This is a true Scottish delicacy made from oatmeal,a secret blend of spices and offal ..mainly sheep blood heart, lungs, and assorted organs..mixed together and boiled in a genuine sheep's stomach which is very rare now thanks to the eejits at the EU

...Haggis is a portable take anywhere food, in fact, my climbing partner took 2 up K2 and they both survived....as no one else wanted anything to do with them....smile

....you really can't go wrong in a freezing winter with a haggis or 2 in the house, they are filling, comfort food and very satisfying, plus the offal provides vital protein and vitimins..so if your ever in Scotland don't pass up the chance of tasting our national dish..

Most people turn their noses up at the thought of haggis, because of what's in it. I've had it and I liked it. If folks only knew what went into bologna and some hot dogs, they would turn thier noses up at them. Haggis has a long story and history behind the dish. It was often the only thing that kept some families alive and going, often times referd to as the poor mans meal. Thanks for the note on it Alex.

Carla your right the poor relied on Haggis as a staple food and certainly in the past, the term poor man's meal, prevented people from trying Haggis but now I'm happy to say its very trendy in expensive Scottish restaurants ...
